What brought you to Sweet Balance?

I had just recently moved to Wakefield and was looking for a new yoga studio. I remember looking on a Google Search for studios close by and Sweet Balance popped up. The glowing reviews and welcoming website made me want to give it a whirl. (I haven’t looked back since.)

What was your first class at Sweet Balance?

My first class was Strong Flow.

What is the biggest transformation you have seen since coming here?

I have always been someone that cares a lot about being active and played sports my entire life. My senior year of college, I ended up having a back surgery that completely changed my mobility and ability to get back to the activities I used to do. I was in a lot of pain and felt so unsettled and discouraged. Sweet Balance has helped me SO much with my pain management and has transformed my thinking. I actually have been so inspired by my progress and the classes at SB that I am taking a Yoga Teacher Training through yogaspirit and SB.

What is your favorite class at SB and why?

That is a really hard question! At first, I was strictly a Balanced Body and Strong Flow gal. However, I have now tried all the classes offered at SB and love them all for different reasons. 

Has there been an impact on your life off the mat? 

Absolutely! I have taken so many of the breathing strategies and poses to my classroom. (I teach third grade!) I love peaking my eyes open and seeing kids completely in their element and breathing deep.

What is your favorite yoga pose? How does that pose make you feel? 

I love tree pose (vrksasana) and I think the kids in my class will agree. We do it all the time. I find this pose so calming and love the variations involved both with your legs and arms. I feel very connected and grounded when in this pose!

For anyone who is afraid to experience yoga or thinks that yoga is not for them or they’re not flexible or fit enough, what would you say to them? 

Just try it! Go in with an open mind. Yoga is one of the most welcoming experiences out there.

How would you describe SB to someone who has never been? 

SB is just the best.

What do you like best about taking Virtual Classes? 

Although I do miss being in person, I do really like that the travel time to get on my mat is me walking from my living room to my mat. It is so convenient! I also love getting to chat with the teachers and other guests.
